About Me

I’m a climate scientist.

I work at the University of California, Irvine in the Climate and Extreme Event Risk Group. I study extreme heat and its impacts on human health.

I’m a science communicator.

I’m an American Geophysical Union Voice for Science. As a fellow with UCI’s CLIMATE Justice Initiative program, I work with a local community-based environmental advocacy organization, GREEN-MPNA. I do outreach to K-16 students with UCI’s CLEAN.

I review board games.

I review board games through the lens of climate science and sustainability. I try to review games about once a quarter. I post my reviews on this website and on BoardGameGeek.com.

I do a lot of other things, too.

I was raised in a suburb of Columbus, Ohio. I lived in Seattle, Washington and earned my B.S. in Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Washington. While there, I worked at Blue Highway Games. Nowadays, I live with my fiancé and dog in Irvine, California, where I’m working towards a PhD in Earth System Sciences. I expect to complete my doctorate by 2027.

When I’m not doing science or playing board games, I enjoy long walks and hikes with my dog, listening to podcasts and audiobooks, cooking, baking, and knitting.
